Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors / National Home Inspector Exam

The NHIE® is the original competency exam for the profession and is still one of the only ones that is psychometrically-valid. It shows a home inspector’s skill and knowledge in the field. The Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors, otherwise known as EBPHI. They are an independent, not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains exams for the real estate inspection profession and advocates for high standards for the profession.

InterNACHI® Certified Home Inspector


The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors – InterNACHI® – is the world’s largest trade organization of residential and commercial property inspectors and is the only inspection association accredited as a nonprofit postsecondary educational institution by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training, a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).

American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI)

The American Assoc. of Radon Scientists and Technologists / National Radon Proficiency Program

The American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) is a nonprofit, trade organization dedicated to the highest standards of excellence and the ethical performance of radon measurement, radon mitigation, and knowledge transfer.  NRPP is recognized as the leading certification program for radon professionals, requiring bi-annual documentation of competence, expertise, and performance to demonstrate skill, knowledge, and professionalism.

Minnesota Department of Health

The MN Department of Health has an indoor air unit that is in charge of and works to prevent or reduce exposures to health hazards in the environment, such as asbestos, lead, radon, environmental tobacco smoke, radiation, and indoor air contaminants.  Certification and licensure have been a state requirement since 2019.

Sewer Line Inspector

Richard has passed and is certified by Inspector Mentoring and Training and The InterNachi School in sewer line analysis.  This is the countries only certification, in this field, that is from an accredited organization recognized by the US Department of Education.

International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants


The International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants (IAC2) is the certifying body for residential and commercial indoor air consultants in North America. IAC2 is a federally tax-exempt, 501(c)(6) non-profit membership trade organization headquartered in Boulder, Colorado.  Applicants must qualify for the IAC2 Certified professional designation to become a member of IAC2. All members are IAC2 Certified Consultants who have demonstrated proficiency in reducing indoor air pollution and improving overall indoor air quality.

AHIT has been the leader in home inspection training since 1993.  They are the largest training company in North America and have certified 50,00+ inspectors.
